Step back, Michael Carter-Williams, Tyler Ennis and Jerryd Bayless, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the Milwaukee Bucks’ starting point guard to start out the 2016-2017 season.

Bucks head coach Jason Kidd told reporters earlier today that the team will officially move the 21-year-old Antetokounmpo to point guard for the 2016-2017 NBA season after ‘The Greek Freak’ appeared at various positions for Milwaukee this year.

“We’re going to go forward with him handling the ball,” Kidd said, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “You can call him point guard, point forward, point center, however you want to look at it.

“With him having the ball and the pressure he puts on the defense and his ability to find guys, has been a plus for us.”

According to ESPN, Antetokounmpo took over Milwaukee’s point guard spot in February. He has four triple doubles since the 20th of February, and has averages of 19.0 points, 7.3 assists and 7.4 rebounds so far this month.

“He has a skill set that he can guard smalls and bigs,” Kidd told reporters. “Being able to guard the 4s or the wing players is something he can do.

Bucks center Miles Plumlee praised Antetokounmpo for how well he’s ran the point guard position this season, and especially late this year with the Bucks out of playoff contention.

“I think Giannis has done a great job,” Plumlee said, again according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “He’s going to learn the looks, the reads. He’s going to understand the game better next year.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 16.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game this year. He, Jabari Parker, Khris Middleton, and others are expected to be big pieces for the Bucks’ future.
